Joanne and John

2023

Effortlessly cool, deeply kind, and sweetly generous, it is hard not to fall in love a little bit with Joanne and John.

Based in California, we worked with Joanne and John on a multi-day destination wedding. Joanne has close familial ties with Scotland, and as avid travellers hosting a wedding here was an obvious choice. They brought together friends and family from all over the world, including some touching family reunions after years apart, for days of feasting and fun. Celebrations kicked off with dinner at one of Edinburgh’s newest Michelin starred restaurants, Heron. On Friday we moved to the main venue for the weekend, Rosebery House and Steading. That night included a most delicious barbecue by local team Field Fire Fork, supported by Winton Brewery in their adorable vintage van.

The wedding day unfolded around the newlyweds, from a calm morning getting ready with a couple of friends, moments of first looks with each other and their parents, and a teary and heart-warming ceremony. They kept close, with their guests flocking to them at every appearance. They were adored at every turn, and the feeling was mutual with constant focus during the planning process on the experience their friends and family will have while in Scotland. Every detail reflected them, but it was all part of the broader view - the moments shared with those they love most. Every one of us involved in the wedding (and it truly was a killer team) left the day a little sad we couldn’t work with Joanne and John again and again, but with the certainty this would be a couple we will be in touch with for years to come.
