2022 Wedding Trends

The Trends so Far…

It’s a new year (by which I mean a new wedding season…it’s late February…the year is no longer new) which means a new handful of trends being added into the world of weddings. On top of all of the many many decisions that come along with planning your big day, you now have to sift through the fads, the magazines, and blogs are telling you you MUST include!

A quick disclaimer: no, you don’t HAVE to include these trends. In fact? We think some of these trends may be better off used elsewhere…or nowhere? But to each their own right?

So, what is it this year? What are the big trends everyone is doing? Well, here’s just a few we’ve been noticing:

Colour

Whether it’s the dress code, the décor, or the bride herself, weddings seem to be drenched in colour these days rather than the previously trendy soft tones and sheer pastels we’ve seen.

Themed Weddings

With the rise of so much visually stunning (and completely binge-worthy) television over the past few years it’s understandable that couples are choosing to emulate those visuals in their own weddings. And while some may choose to go for a full regency-era dress code a la Bridgerton, there’s also certainly ways to incorporate those little touches from the shows, films, or books you love that doesn’t require a time-machine.

Retro/Vintage

A personal favourite trend of mine currently is the homage to another decade, whether that be 1920’s flappers or 70s hippies, the ability to transport guests to another time for a few hours is just magical.

Multi-Day Weddings

Speaking of a few hours…weddings are getting longer! And why shouldn’t they, right? Relish in your special day and let your guests use that dance floor for just that little bit of extra time. The wedding weekend or multi-day wedding has become very popular recently. Whether that be paired with a destination or simply a weekend away in the countryside it’s so nice to see the party going on longer!

I could go on and on, and I probably will in a future blog post (maybe some more detail-oriented trends… jumpsuits?… virtual save the dates?)  but for now, these are just a few trends we’ve noticed. I for one can’t wait to see what our gorgeous couples incorporate in the upcoming season.
